Chinese New Year Eve '09

Well it's finally come to the time where all asians across the world come together to celebrate one important event... Chinese New Year. On top of that this year even more people are going to celebrate this event...

You may ask... how so? Isnt there only a certain number of asians in the world. How could there be more? Well this year it so happens that Chinese New Year and the annual Australia Day fall on the same day. January 26th 2009. So to all those non-asian people out there, we appreciate very much you celebrating with us.

On another note, some of you may know the common phrases used on chinese new year.

1. Gong Xi Fa Chai
2. Shen Ti Jian Kang (Hope you have great health)
3. sun lian fai lok

Now I just want to talk mainly about the 2nd phrase... Hope you have great health. Well its CNY eve and i think  i have not started on a good run. On CNY eve, I Pat Lau stacked it falling backwards and spraining my ankle at 11pm at night. Now some of you may be asking what was i doing so late that could cause such an injury. Well its simple. Its called Midnight Badminton (Street-Style). Yes you heard correct i was playing badminton on the streets running from one driveway to another and i must admit it was hard to see the shuttlecock. After about an hour of intense badminton where you had to guess where the shuttlecock was cuz it was so dark... My opponent (a "rat" in regards to chinese zodiac) asked me "are you tired?" I was like "nah... Im still feeling young and full of energy" . But just as i said it I ran backwards to hit the shuttlecock, my foot tried to grip on the kerb and i went backwards. Pain shot up my left leg and my left arm. Initial diagnosis I had sprained my ankle and torn a muscle in my arm as i fell.

Me,  trying to be a man, despite the pain slowly got up and held back the pain and tried my best to walk like normal. Now my ankle looks like a tennis ball and my arm feels like floppy. Its kinda cool considering i'm a really accident prone boy but also silly of me too. But ... Oh well that is my Chinese New Year Eve.

Happy Chinese New year everyone
